Almost all of these photographs were taken in Beijing. I hope that they convey my opinion of the Chinese today (a friendly, traditionally-minded, hospitable people in a fast changing society) from a westerner's perspective. Even after having lived here since 1997 and having learned a bit of the language I still very much feel as an outside observer. Chinese can be a little camera shy, so being a photographer here in Beijing is an interesting challenge.
